A special television broadcast capturing all the wonder of the 2016 Clonakilty Agricultural Show will air on IRISH TV on Thursday July 21st at 9pm in a 24-minute feature on the Out and About in Ireland programme.
Recognised as one of the top shows in the country, the Clonakilty Show has something for everyone and provides a wonderful annual showcase for the farming community including exhibits of everything from farm animals, dogs and poultry, to quality Irish cuisine sourced from natural Irish ingredients on land and sea.
The 2016 event on Sunday June 12th once again proved a great day out for all the family with its Keeping It Country theme that saw up-and-coming country singer Eamonn Jackson topping the bill during three hours of non-stop music in the hotly contested competition to select The West Cork King and Queen of Jiving.

Of course the 2016 Clonakilty Agricultural Show featured the finest of animals and breeds, from horses and ponies to cattle, sheep and pigs, with old favourites also on show, including Gerard’s Mobile Farm where children and adults could get up close to birds, rabbits, goats, lambs, fowl and domestic animals. The Poultry Pavilion with over 120 different birds of varying colour and feather also proved a huge hit as did the dog show in which breeds from sheepdogs to St. Bernards were on show.
WILD ATLANTIC WAY COOK-OFF
With good healthy food being central to farming and fishing The Wild Atlantic Way Secondary School Cook Off sponsored by the BIM Innovation Centre in Clonakilty and the Southern Star allowed the finest of Irish ingredients to take centre stage at the show.
Food lovers also got to admire the selection of superb cakes, breads, preserves, fruit and vegetables among the many dishes entered for the coveted first prize in the Domestic Arts Competition with real samples up for grabs at the food village that included stands from top local producers.
1916 COMMEMORATIVE TEA PARTY
In keeping with the 1916 centenary commemorations the Clonalkilty Agricultural Show paid unique tribute to the historical year that is in it by celebrating the role of women in the 1916 Easter Rising with a Mná na hEireann Commemorative Tea Party event that brought to life the women of 1916 through stories, poems, song and costume.
