NEW SERIES: TREYVAUD TRAVELS – COOKING AND CRUISING THE RIVER SHANNON
IRISH TV is delighted to launch a second series of the very popular Treyvaud Travels cooking programme hosted by colourful chef Paul Treyvaud – whose goal as a chef is to take the fear out of cooking. The new series promises not only to show viewers how to have fun creating meals from wholesome Irish ingredients but also to highlight the wonderful asset that is the River Shannon so rich with natural resources and talented people in the many townlands surrounding it.
The ultimate dream is to help people realise that cooking is fun and something that can be enjoyed with all the family. I want to take the fear out of cooking because it is really simple. It is not complicated. We are not trying to create restaurant food here but what people will be cooking at home.
The Shannon is one of the most stunning natural waterways in the world and the cruise series shows what can be found in towns and villages along the route and how easy it is to cook different food whether on the back of a boat or the side of a river. Viewers get to see what is on offer along the way – the many great pubs, restaurants and food outlets and the wonderful people working so hard to make a living there. I am confident when viewers see this part of the country in this series, which really does not get enough attention, they will fall in love with it as much as we did. I won’t be surprised if the reaction is ‘cancel the holiday to Spain, we’re off to The Shannon!’
Words are simply not enough to describe what an amazing experience it was to take a boat (the Waterford cruiser from Carrick Craft) down the Shannon – one of the most stunning natural waterways.
We were also delighted with the wonderful support we received from locals along the route who came out in their hundreds to help, introducing us to some incredible characters and driving us to hidden gems on the landscape
Viewers can look forward to watching as I use wholesome Irish ingredients to produce real food for real people. These are recipes everybody can relate to but cooked and presented in a unique way. It is about showing how much fun and how easy it is to cook with ingredients and get your hands dirty.
My main message around cooking is that I will eliminate the fear of cooking. I will make it so easy for you to cook amazing recipes at home and you will be blown away at just how easy it is to cook like a professional. There will be no kale, no quinoa and no chia seeds – just brilliant recipes for everyone to enjoy. Remember the most important things in cooking – butter for flavor, oil for heat and season, season, season!
Watch out for Treyvaud’s Travels – The Shannon – on Tuesday November 1st at 8pm – running for 7 weeks – repeats Sunday 8.30pm.
